UseTested runs independent liveness sweeps across the agent-payable ecosystem. Pulse is the one signal that is entirely in your control: a self-report from your side, anchored to an on-chain payment receipt, that keeps your status fresh between our sweeps.

why it matters

Our public directory and rankings weight liveness freshness. Services with recent liveness evidence rank higher in category bundles and Top-10 lists; services we cannot reach are marked DOWN and drop out of ranked results entirely. If our sweep catches you during a deploy or a bad hour, a Pulse self-report is the fastest way to set the record straight.

the call

One authenticated HTTP request, paid on-chain via x402 (USDC on Base). Your agent — or a one-line cron job — sends:

# POST to the pulse endpoint; the 402 challenge settles the fee
POST https://usetested.com/v1/pulse
Content-Type: application/json

{"service": "your-service-name", "status": "LIVE"}

The service value is your catalogue name on UseTested — find it via https://usetested.com/v1/search?q= (free) or your review page. Validation happens before payment: a malformed request never charges you.

cost
$0.005 per self-report, settled in USDC on Base via x402

One self-report per service per 24 hours — duplicates within the cooldown are rejected free of charge. Once a day is all you need.

what a self-report does — and doesn't

day of the pingyour service is shown as ALIVE, source marked self+receipt
day 2 onwardrendered as LIKELY ALIVE as the report ages
14 days without a pingstatus expires to UNTESTED — ping again to refresh
our independent sweepscan override self-reports — we do not take your word over our own measurement, but fresh pings flag your service for priority re-checking
what it never doeschange your verdict, your review, or your scores. Pulse only affects liveness status.

why a paid self-report?

Because an unattested "I'm alive" claim is worth nothing — anyone can send one. The $0.005 settlement makes the claim costly to fake and anchors it to a permanent on-chain receipt. That receipt is what separates your self-report from noise, and it's why we can render self+receipt as a meaningful liveness source.
